CATA 2020:Editor's Preface

Program Chairs’ Message

It is with great pleasure that we welcome the participants of the 35th International Conference on Computers and Their Applications (CATA 2020), sponsored by the International Society for Computers and Their Applications (ISCA), in San Francisco, California - March 23-25, 2020.

This year we received papers from nineteen countries and have 41 papers in 10 sessions included in the proceedings. The papers present specific contributions in their respective fields, covering a broad range of topics in computer science and engineering such as cybersecurity, computers in business and urban planning, visualization, machine learning methods, clustering and classification methods, and software engineering. To assure the quality of papers selected for presentations and publication, each paper was evaluated by at least two reviewers based on technical content and accuracy, significance of the results, the conference scope, clarity of ideas, and overall quality.

We also have two keynote speakers: Dr. Rex Gantenbein, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Computer Science and the College of Health Sciences in Medical Education and Public Health at the University of Wyoming and Dr. Ron Dror from the Department of Computer Science and the Institute for Computational and Mathematical Engineering at Stanford University. We would like to thank them for their contribution to our two conferences.

Further, we have a panel focusing on Computing in Healthcare, with panelists Rex Gantenbein, Sam Hudson, Maurice Cohen and Donna Hudson. We thank them for their valuable insights into this important issue.

We would like to thank Dr. Narayan Debnath for handling the registration and the local arrangements for the conference, Dr. Gongzhu Hu for his guidance as ISCA President, Dr. Yan Shi for her work in helping with the proceedings, Dr. Takaaki Goto, for handling the publicity, Dr. Qin Ding for helping with the society conference web site, and Dr. Les Miller for his leadership as General Conference Chair. Further, our thanks go to the members of the Program Committee and the Session Chairs for their contributions. Finally, we would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to all the Program Committee members, reviewers, authors, presenters, and participants for the success of CATA 2020.

We sincerely hope and wish that every participant has a very enjoyable and beneficial time at the CATA 2020 conference in San Francisco.
