Abstract

Day after day we suffer from the pollution of our planet and all this caused by our daily waste, such as the unicel which 148 thousand tons per year are used daily, including containing, packaging and shipping, as well as that destined for construction, highlighting that it is a product that it takes years to biodegrade, and our lack of commitment to change our habits, this is why this research was created "biodegradable tray based on corn crop forage" has the purpose of reducing environmental pollution and production costs, and it is more resistant than the conventional unicel plate made of expanded polystyrene that are used daily in different areas of work. When carrying out the mechanical tests, all the values that were recorded by the tension and impact machines were recorded. Each of the test pieces used met with the ASTM E23, ASTM E8 standard. With the results obtained, it was demonstrated that the biodegradable tray has slightly more resistance (2.25 J / cm²) to the impact on the impact test and stress test the forage material of the corn crop has a fragile behavior (136 psi) since the specimens did not present necking in the fracture zone.
