Abstract

The main objective of this study is to determine the factors that influence school dropout and repetition and their impact on the achievement of educational quality in secondary schools in the Dominican Republic. The method to be used will be the mixed one with a non-experimental design, of cross section. The study sample will be made up of approximately 75 participants, between 14 and 55 years of age, male and female, with a heterogeneous level of education and socioeconomic stratum. The instruments to be used are: semi-structured interviews, surveys and the focus group technique. This study will make it possible to conclude the situations in which the levels of repetition and drop-out of students at the secondary level persist in vulnerable contexts, once the factors that influence school drop-out and repetition and their incidence on the achievement of quality in education in the Dominican Republic have been determined.
