Approximations to Gibbs/Shannon Entropy: Entropic Polynomials

Abstract

In this research paper, it is proved that linear/quadratic approximations to Shannon  /Gibbs  entropy lead to Tsallis entropy, Sq(p) for q = 2/q = 3. Based on higher degree approximations of logarithm, entropic polynomials are derived.
