Abstract

China's "One Belt, One Road initiative" and the new dynamics of South Caucasus global competition were first reported on "One Belt, One Road" in the article. The BRI covers much of Eurasia, Africa and Oceania, as well as links to Europe and Latin America. Later, the article talked about the interests of global powers. Global powers, including China, Russia, the United States, Turkey, and European nations, are deeply interested in the One Belt, One Road initiative and the South Caucasus region for strategic economic and geopolitical reasons. China sees OBOR as a means to expand its economic influence by creating trade routes and infrastructure projects in Asia, Europe and Africa. Russia took the initiative to secure its position in Eurasia and strengthen economic relations. The US and European nations are watching the developments carefully to protect their geopolitical interests and to maintain a balance against the potential dominance of China and Russia. In the following chapters, Azerbaijan's role, benefits, and potential risks are addressed here, and the political and economic independence of Azerbaijan's participation in this initiative is justified. Ilham Aliyev continues and develops the policy of national leader Heydar Aliyev by adapting it to the new challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. One such challenge and opportunity is this initiative. Azerbaijan and China in transport, energy, communication, etc. implements or plans to implement a number of infrastructure projects related to the fields. For example, Azerbaijan participates in the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway corridor connecting Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan. It is part of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor, which in turn connects China to Europe through Central Asia and the Caspian region. Ilham Aliyev, like national leader Heydar Aliyev, conducts a balanced foreign policy as a whole and maintains relations with numerous regional and global actors.

Keyphrases: China One Belt One Road Initiative, Trans-Caspian transport corridor, global powers
