Abstract

Languages are repositories of local knowledge and traditional wisdom. We can understand the culture and history of a country or region is through its language. But many indigenous languages are facing many challenges for their survival.. India has lost one-fifth of its languages in the past five decades due to the effect of globalization. We would like to focus on the native tribal languages of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states which are endangered. These languages are living organisms that represent the linguistic community’s thinking and culture. They contain knowledge on various aspects which is passed on from one generation to another generation. People as well as the government come forward for protection and preservation of these tribal languages. .
