Abstract

Nigeria, Africa's most populous country and a significant economic power, has experienced a tumultuous political history characterized by colonial legacies, military rule, and the ongoing struggle to consolidate democracy. The article examines the structure and functions of Nigeria's federal system, the roles of major political parties, and the impact of ethnic and religious diversity on political stability. Additionally, it addresses critical issues such as corruption, electoral integrity, and the quest for good governance. Through a comprehensive analysis, this study aims to provide insights into the complexities of Nigerian politics and the prospects for achieving sustainable democratic governance in the country.
