Strengthening Skills Through Virtual Education in a Pandemic Context: Results of an Experience

EasyChair Preprint no. 6313

11 pagesDate: August 17, 2021

Abstract

The problem addressed was the strengthening of skills through virtual education in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The method is a case study of the structuring and development of training by competencies, supported by telehealth actions to promote communication skills and health education, which was carried out with the participation of four teachers and 106 Medicine students from a private university in the south-west of Colombia, during the first semester of 2020. The results showed the usefulness and management of virtual platforms as a key element in the training of human talent in health. It was noted to consider both the strengths and weaknesses of the process, and in turn reflect on the opportunities and threats in the environment. It is concluded that in times of social and health crisis such as the Covid 19 Pandemic, pedagogical and didactic adaptations are required that contribute to an education with academic excellence and, at the same time, allow as an added value the contribution with social projection aimed at contributing to the well-being of the population; and the experience of the case presented is illustrative of that process.
