ICPLA mission
The International Clinical Phonetics and Linguistics Association is a non-profit-making international organization devoted to the study of phonetics and linguistics in relation to disordered speech and language. Specifically its mission is to:
- Stimulate thought and research in the area already delineated.
- Facilitate interaction and communication between researchers and clinicians.
- Organise regular meetings/conferences both nationally and internationally on relevant topics in clinical phonetics and linguistics.
What is clinical linguistics?
Clinical linguistics is the application of linguistics, and all its sub-disciplines, to the study of communication disorders. The insights of this application can be used to enhance linguistic theory or to develop approaches to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of communication disorders.
Submission Guidelines
All abstracts must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference.
The conference aims to foster lively and stimulating discussion around the application of linguistics and phonetics to disordered speech and language with the goal of enhancing linguistic and phonetic theory and developing approaches to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of communication disorders.
We invite proposals for oral or poster presentations on topics within clinical linguistics and phonetics. Oral and poster proposals should consist of background, method, results and conclusions (300 words).
ICPLA considers poster and oral presentations to be of equal importance and authors may indicate which mode of presentation they prefer. The Scientific Committee reserves the right to change the author’s option.
