IGGI 2023 is the annual conference for the Intelligent Games and Game Intelligence (IGGI) Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT)
Submission Guidelines (IGGI researchers)
The following submission categories are welcome:
-
A 15-minute talk proposal. This can be directly related to your research, or on an extra-curricular games-related topic (for example, in previous years we’ve had talks on the rise of casual games, how to write D&D modules for online sale, and the community dynamics of democracy in Runescape).
-
A workshop proposal: a c. 60-minute workshop, in which participants get some practical demonstration and hands-on activities around your research topic. We expressly invite you to organise workshops in teams of two or more, with your supervisor(s) if you wish.
-
A tutorial proposal: a c. 60-minute tutorial on some subject of interest to the research community.
-
A panel proposal: Students in a group (around 3 or 4) submit a panel proposal with a specific topic. The topic could be research-related, or of broader relevance to the community, such as well-being, diversity or representation in games. The panel is scheduled for 20–30 minutes and will involve a mix of pre-specified questions and an open Q&A with the audience.
-
Any other event that doesn't quite fit into the categories above that you think would be suitable for the IGGI conference.
In all cases please submit a short abstract (maximum 350 words) outlining the proposed content, and target audiences.
(Poster Submissions for IGGI researchers need to be submitted separately as per the guidelines shared separately. Please contact the poster chair for any queries.)
Submission Guidelines (non-IGGI researchers)
While most submissions are reserved for IGGI CDT researchers, we do have some capacity for posters from external PhD students not part of the CDT (and we'd absolutely love to have you along). If you have been working on a research topic that is related and relevant to the IGGI themes, you can submit an external poster. Please use the standard CFP for submissions and mention that you are a non-IGGI researcher in the abstract section. Please note that the deadline for external poster submissions is 29th July 2023. The actual conference is free, and you can register on the conference website, but you'll need to sort out your own transport and accommodation. Also, you need to bring your own poster to the venue. For any further details, please contact the poster chair.
