About the Conference
Tourism is a cultural phenomenon that has profound social, cultural and economic implications. It is one of the leading global industries and a key driver for economic growth and employment generation. Tourism is an important component of the culture which provides an important means of dissemination of culture, strengthening andpreservation of cultural heritage and creativity and inculcation of art consciousness among the people. Religious tourism which makes up roughly 60% of domestic travel inIndia, and also accounts for the major share of the entire travel and tourism sectoracross the globe. India is home of one of the world’s oldest civilizations and culture and unique display of “unity in diversity”. It has historical cultural and primary pilgrimage sites for many great religions of the world including Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism. These sites are a massive attraction for travelers from all over the world forfervor and religious purposes. Some of the most well- known religious places for pilgrimage in India are Badri Nath, Kedar Nath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Amarnath, VaishnoDevi, Jagannath Puri, Sun Temple Konarak, Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, Golden Temple, Kashi Vishwanath, Tirupati Balaji, Ajmer Sharif, Hemkunt Shahib, Prayag, Ayodhya, Mathura,Varanasi, Sai Baba Shrine at Shirdi and Haridwar. Sarnath, Mcleodganj, Rajgir, and Bodh Gaya hold divine importance for followers of the Buddhist Sects. Uttar Pradesh has the honour of being home to renowned pilgrim cities and towns like Ayodhya (Awadh), Mathura (Braj), Varanasi (Kashi) and Prayagraj etc. and these sites are a major source of revenue and employment for people of the country. Keeping in mind the importance ofreligious tourism and dissemination of culture and heritage in India and Uttar Pradesh, the Department of Management Studies, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (A Central University), Lucknow is organizing a Two Days International Conference on "Religious Tourism" from 27th - 28th March, 2023.
Objective of the Conference
The International conference on "Religious Tourism" aims to bring together academicians, researchers, and other professionals from around the world to discussand present their knowledge and research on different facets of religious tourism. It will also serve as a leading interdisciplinary platform for academicians, researchers, experts and practitioners to share and deliberate on recent advances, developments, and issues in the domain of Religious Tourism as well as practical challenges and solutions.The proposed conference will focus on the role and potential of Religious Tourism and pilgrimage as a means for the cultural, social, and economic growth of religious placesin India.
Call for Papers
Prospective author (s) are requested to contribute and help to shape the conference through submission of their research articles. High quality research describing original and unpublished result of conceptual, constructive, empirical and experimental work inall the disciplines of tourism & allied disciplines are invited for oral and poster presentations in the conference.
Submission Guidelines
All the participants are requested to submit their full length research papers as per following guidelines:
- The first page must include the title of the paper, name, affiliation and contact details of the author(s).
- The manuscripts should be submitted in MS Word format, Times New Roman,12 font size, 1.5 line space with margin of 1 Inch on all sides.
- Citations and references must be written in APA style.
- Abstract should be up to 200-250 words. Word limit for full length papershould not be more than 5000 words including the references.
Publication Opportunity
Selected papers may be published in reputed journals listed in ABDC/Scopus. The remaining papers will be accepted for publication in an edited book with ISBN Number.

About the City
Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh is situated on the bank of Gomti River. Thecity is believed to have been founded by Lakshman, the younger brother of Lord Ram, who gave his name to it. This bustling city, famed for its Nawabi era finesse and amazing food, is a unique mix of the ancient and the modern culture both existing side by side to give special flavor to the city. Exhibiting a good example of 'Ganga-Jamuni' tehzeeb, it is home to extraordinary monuments depicting a fascinating blend of ancient, colonial and oriental architecture. It has 300 year old Chandrika Devi temple as well as 15th century Jama Masjid. Some important city centers are Bara Imambara, Rumi Darwaza, Bhool Bhulaiya. The grand Victorian Husainabad Clock Tower was constructed in theyear 1881 by Hussainabad Trust, as a victory column.
