The Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education (CISSE) proudly announces its 30th Annual Colloquium, the nation's premier forum dedicated to advancing cybersecurity education. This milestone event will be held in person at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis, Indiana, from October 26–28, 2026.
Celebrating three decades of collaboration, the 30th Colloquium brings together educators, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, industry leaders, and students to exchange ideas, share innovations, and strengthen the future of cybersecurity education.
For its 30th Anniversary, CISSE expands beyond the traditional research conference to offer multiple participation opportunities, including scholarly papers, posters, panels, workshops, roundtables, presentations, master classes, and academic program walk-throughs. Whether you are presenting original research, demonstrating innovative teaching practices, or facilitating community dialogue, there is a venue designed for your contribution.
About CISSE
CISSE convenes educators, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from academia, government, industry, and the nonprofit sector to advance cybersecurity education through collaboration, scholarship, and community engagement. The Colloquium serves as a national forum for sharing research, innovative pedagogy, curriculum development, workforce initiatives, and emerging practices shaping the future of cybersecurity education.

Conference Participation Requirements
- At least one author or presenter must register and attend The Colloquium in person.
- Accepted papers must be presented in person for publication consideration.
- All accepted submission types are expected to be presented during the conference.
Artificial Intelligence Disclosure
Authors and presenters must disclose any use of generative AI or automated tools in preparing their submission. AI systems may not be listed as authors, and authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of their work.

Academic Papers
Academic Papers present original research, educational innovation, curriculum development, empirical studies, case studies, technical analyses, and applied practices that advance cybersecurity education.
Accepted papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication in the Journal of the Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education (JCISSE). Initial submissions must be fully anonymized for double-blind peer review.
Paper Submission Guidelines
- Submit original, unpublished work that is not under review by another conference or journal.
- Use the IEEE Conference Template.
- Prepare papers of 3,000–4,000 words, including an abstract of no more than 250 words.
- Remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, and other identifying information for double-blind peer review.
- Include DOI links for references whenever available.
- Provide high-resolution figures and images, minimum 300 DPI, where applicable.
- Provide ORCID iDs for all authors in the final camera-ready submission.
- Identify all authors at the time of initial submission. Author additions after submission are not permitted and may result in rejection.
- Include Institutional Review Board (IRB) or equivalent ethics approval information when required for human-subject research.
Student Papers
Student authors should identify their submission as a student paper. Eligible submissions will be considered for the Erich Spengler Student Paper of the Year Award.
Publication & Copyright
Accepted papers receive Crossref DOIs and are published immediately as open access in JCISSE. Copyright remains with the authors while granting CISSE permission to publish and distribute the work.
Paper Review Criteria
Academic papers are evaluated through a double-blind peer review process based on originality, technical quality, methodological rigor, significance, clarity of presentation, and relevance to cybersecurity education and the Colloquium theme. Accepted papers should demonstrate a meaningful contribution to the field and be of publishable quality.
Non-Paper Submission Guidelines
The following guidelines apply to all non-paper submission types, including panels, research posters, workshops, roundtables, sessions, presentations, master classes, and academic program walk-throughs.
Submit an abstract describing your proposed session. Abstracts should typically be 300–750 words and should clearly address:
- The purpose and objectives of the proposed session.
- The intended audience and expected level of experience.
- The significance and relevance to cybersecurity education, workforce development, research, or professional practice.
- The proposed format, such as presentation, panel discussion, demonstration, interactive workshop, roundtable, poster, master class, or academic program walk-through.
- Expected learning outcomes and participant takeaways.
If your submission includes figures or images, please provide high-resolution files, minimum 300 DPI.
Non-Paper Submission Types
- Panels: Moderated discussions that bring together multiple perspectives on emerging issues, educational challenges, policy questions, and innovative practices.
- Research Posters: Visual presentations of works in progress, emerging ideas, classroom innovations, exploratory research, or completed projects suitable for discussion with attendees.
- Workshops: Interactive sessions focused on faculty development, curriculum innovation, demonstrations, applied practice, collaboration, or skill-building.
- Roundtables: Facilitated conversations designed to promote discussion, community engagement, shared problem-solving, or exploration of timely issues.
- Sessions & Presentations: Individual or team presentations sharing innovative teaching practices, institutional initiatives, demonstrations, lessons learned, or emerging ideas.
- Master Classes: Advanced instructional sessions led by experienced educators or practitioners on teaching methods, curriculum design, assessment strategies, or specialized topics.
- Academic Program Walk-throughs: Structured showcases of cybersecurity degree programs, curriculum sequencing, laboratory environments, student engagement strategies, assessment models, and institutional best practices.
Non-Paper Submission Requirements
- Use of the IEEE Conference Template is encouraged for consistency but is not required.
- Disclose any use of generative AI or automated tools in preparing the submission.
- Include all presenters and co-authors at the time of submission. Presenter additions after acceptance are generally not permitted.
- At least one presenter must register for the conference and deliver the session in person.
- All submissions must represent original work or educational content appropriate for presentation at the 30th Colloquium.
- Accepted presenters may be asked to provide final presentation materials prior to the conference to support program planning and accessibility.
Non-Paper Review Criteria
Non-paper submissions are evaluated on relevance, educational value, originality, audience engagement, feasibility, and alignment with the Colloquium theme. Unlike research papers, these submissions are reviewed on the strength of their proposed contribution and presentation rather than the standards of a peer-reviewed research manuscript.
